The IAMACF has been hard at work, bringing attention to all the fantastic work performed at the Clinic as well as advocating for amendments to laws which strive to bring much-needed protections to those serving the underserved. In August along with IAFCC, IAMACF Chair Dr. Lalitha Darbha organized a tour of the free Clinic for Senator Heather Stein. Dr. Darbha was also instrumental in organizing an advocacy meeting with State Representative Theresa Mah to address modifications in Good Samaritan Law. Both events were very successful. Congratulations, Dr. Darbha and IAMACF!

Title: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

    Certification Course
    7.0 CME Credit Hours

Overview: ACLS is a protocol for managing victims suffering from severe cardiac conditions and other medical challenges. Through ACLS training health professionals may develop the expertise and skills needed to use this life-saving process properly and safely. To qualify for ACLS training you must be a medical professional such as a registered nurse or physician. Unlike BLS (Basic Life Support), which doesn’t require complex and extensive education and training, ACLS certification is required for health care providers working in acute care settings and also by providers of emergency services. The majority of hospitals and emergency services require that this certification be accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA).

At the completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to: Provide patient care based on ACLS algorithms; recognize and initiate early management of peri-arrest conditions; gain proficiency in basic life support care and manage cardiac arrest; identify and treat ischemic chest pain and acute coronary syndromes; recognize other life-threatening clinical situations (such as stroke) and providing initial care; and implement effective resuscitation team dynamics.
